Sew and Grow

Term One Classes

We are sew excited to be launching our brand new 5 week beginner course at All You Needle Ltd in Kerikeri.

Diane Dellar  has kindly let us run classes in her shop and we are so looking forward to trying out some of the wonderful fabrics she has in store.

To make my sample bag, I chose two types of 100% cotton canvas from her selection and mixed the two together creating a contrast between black and white, and Aztec designs.

This is one of the bags we will be making on the basic beginners course for a button hole, which of course can be made to suit each individual in size and design.

I also made a coin purse to match the bag with remaining fabric, and will be adding a pouch inside the bag to place my coin purse in.

Both the bag and the purse are fully lined, and I decided my label looked pretty cute with the colours so added that also.

It was a real treat for me to choose some brand new fabric from the shop, as I have mainly worked with recycled op shop finds in the past, and found it really nice to buy something brand new that I choose, instead of the off cuts of people throw outs.

Not that I don’t love using op shop finds or throw out scraps!

I just bought myself a bag of neoprene scraps from Trade Me to see if I can start making some bikinis and swim wear this summer!
